The below documentary was filmed in Zhongcun. Liu Yongfa trained many apprentices in Zhongcun, including Zhang Qisheng.

Zhang Qisheng brought Shui Xian bushes and his new tea-making knowledge to Nanyang, a more southerly town even closer to Zhangping city. Nowadays, thanks to Zhang Qisheng, Nanyang is the largest production area for Zhangping Shui Xian, overtaking the older Zhongcun area.

This tea is made in Nanyang by the grandson of Zhang Qisheng, and so we have given it a name that reflects this transmission of tea making skills across generations and geographical areas. Zhang’s tea is popular among locals, so much so that we were unable to get any of his tea last year. His tea has a unique aroma and a refreshing fruity aftertaste.

We recommend brewing as the locals do in Zhangping: one cake per 100-120ml gaiwan. After a long rinse of at least 30 seconds, you can brew to your desired strength. Each cake is about 10 grams, with some minor variation due to the hand-pressing technique.
