Tanyang Gongfu Red

Origin: Tanyang Village, Fu’an, Fujian

Tanyang Gongfu black tea has an interesting history. In the Late Qing Dynasty, it was exported to Europe and America under the name Congou, becoming very popular with foreign customers. In 1898 alone, 1500 tons of Tanyang Gongfu was exported to the West. Production sharply declined during wartime in the mid 20th century, and nowadays it is not as well known as it used to be. This Tanyang Gongfu is approachable and easy to brew, with a sweet fruity taste and satisfying mouthfeel.
