Old Tree Red Tea: Fujian and Anhui

The two red teas in this set are from old trees in abandoned gardens. Both teas have been charcoal roasted, and are of equivalent quality. The Old Tree Tanyang Cai Cha is from Fankeng in the mountains surrounding Fu'an. The elevation here is about 1200m, much higher than the elevation of Tanyang Village. The raw material is Tanyang Cai Cha, the heirloom varietal for Panyong Congou. The Old Tree Qimen Maofeng, currently exclusive to this set, is made from heirloom Zhuye Zhong trees at around 800m elevation. These teas are similar in processing style, so this set is a good way to compare the heirloom varietals of two historic red teas from Fujian and Anhui.

We recommend brewing these teas in a 100ml porcelain gaiwan with boiling water.
