Harvest: Spring 2026
Origin: Fankeng, Fu'an, Fujian Province
Cultivar: Tanyang Cai Cha (Tanyang heirloom varietal)
Processing: Traditional
This tea is made from wild-growing old Tanyang Cai Cha trees, the heirloom varietal of Panyong Congou. These trees are few in number and require long treks into the forest to pick. For these reasons not many producers in Fu'an make this tea anymore. It’s a shame because teas like this are the purest expressions of the Tanyang Cai Cha varietal and the pine and bamboo forest these trees grow in. This tea has a smooth mouth-watering texture and a clean woody taste. It also has a distinct high-mountain character, as these trees grow at an elevation of over 1000m, significantly higher than Tanyang Village itself. Unlike last year's Old Bush Tanyang Gongfu, this one has been charcoal roasted. It will taste even better in the months and years to come.
Suggested brewing: 6g in a 100ml porcelain vessel
Blending: this tea pairs nicely with the Jin Mu Dan. Blend 4g of this tea with 2g of Jin Mu Dan
