This is a limited batch of wild old bush Zhangping Shui Xian, handmade by Shen Tian Xing, an Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor and one of the most prestigious producers of Zhangping Shui Xian. Shen personally printed each cake with his seal. Shen is interviewed in our documentary. His tea has won countless awards, and he now serves as one of the primary judges of Zhangping’s annual tea competition. This tea is made from Shui Xian bushes that have been left to grow wild and unmanaged since being planted about 70 years ago. The lack of pruning allows these bushes to grow taller than a person, which makes them difficult to harvest. Picking this leaf material therefore increases labour costs, but the resulting tea has a silky texture, more complexity, and a longer lasting aftertaste. We recommend brewing as the locals do in Zhangping: steeping a whole cake in a 100ml-120ml gaiwan. If you prefer a lighter tea, you can break a cake in half.
