2022 Wudong Yangmei Ye

Yangmei Ye means 'Bayberry Leaf' and is so named because the leaves of this cultivar resemble the leaves of the Bayberry or Waxberry fruit tree (pictured below). A rare cultivar, Yangmei Ye is known for its unique aftertaste, which presents in the cheeks and is slightly sour and refreshing. This one is made from 60 year old bushes in Zhong Xin Yan Village on Wudong Mountain. Somewhat of an acquired taste, it’s recommended for those wanting to try something different from other common dancong varieties. We suggest trying different brew methods for this one in addition to typical Chaozhou style brewing. Sometimes we like brewing this tea with lower ratios.
