China Red or Zhongguo Hong (中国红) is a dianhong developed during the renaissance of high grade black teas in the early 2000s. Unlike our 2025 version, this 2026 edition of China Red is unblended, using only native Yunnan gushu material. The choice to use higher quality material sets this version of China Red apart from others on the market, offering improved texture, aftertaste, and brewing endurance. Presents with hui gan and a cooling sensation. Favourable weather has also given this 2026 vintage a more intense aroma compared to last year’s.
You can brew this tea any way you like, trying different water temperatures. When brewing this tea gongfu style we like to have a long session with a 5-6g/100ml ratio and short infusions. This tea also brews well ‘grandpa style’ in a mug, becoming more fruity when brewed this way.
